What This Part Is
The 249125 is a pump rod assembly that includes a Chromex-coated rod and piston seat. The Chromex surface improves wear resistance and reduces friction for longer service life in demanding, high-pressure applications.
Key Benefits & Use
| Durability | Chromex coating on the rod enhances hardness and wear resistance for extended pump life. |
|---|---|
| Performance | Restores smooth piston travel and sealing efficiency when rebuilding the fluid section. |
| Included | Pump rod + piston seat (piston valve/seat) as a matched assembly. |
| Typical Pairings | Commonly used with pump lowers such as 246428 Endurance Chromex (verify your lower by model & year). |
| Good For | High-duty coatings: acrylics, latex, primers, block-fillers (within the sprayer’s rated specs). |
Fit & Identification Tips
- Match by sprayer model + generation and by pump lower part number when possible.
- Different generations of the “same” sprayer (e.g., Ultra 495) may use different rods.
- If your sprayer is larger (e.g., Ultra Max II 695/795 or GMAX II 3900), it likely uses a different rod. Check the parts manual.
Frequently Asked Questions
Check your sprayer’s model, year, and especially the pump lower part number (e.g., 246428). Cross-reference in the parts manual or compatibility chart. If your pump lower differs, the rod may be different.
Chromex is a hard, wear-resistant surface treatment on the rod. It improves abrasion resistance, lowers friction, and helps the pump maintain performance longer between rebuilds.
It’s recommended. Inspect and typically replace V-packings, seals, and check the cylinder for wear. A fresh rod plus worn packings will not seal correctly.
Generally no—larger frames often use a different displacement rod. Verify your exact parts manual for those models; do not assume interchangeability with 249125.
Depressurize and flush the unit. Follow the pump-lower service procedure, torque to spec, use compatible lubricant on packings, and prime carefully after reassembly. Test at low pressure for leaks before full operation.
