Tips For Cleaning Graco Airless Sprayer Parts

Painting can be a dirty business. Graco airless sprayers and their coordinating parts are a great investment, but they need to be cleaned regularly to ensure efficiency for years to come. One of the most important things about paint sprayers is keeping them clean. You can have the best sprayer on the market, but if it is not cleaned it will not work to its full potential. With frequent use, paint particles can build up on the interior of the sprayer making it impossible for the new paint to go through. This can cause clogs, pressure problems, and premature replacements or repairs.

Doing routine maintenance and cleaning your sprayer and its accessories will help you ensure you get the full life out of the paint sprayer machine and that you are not having to replace parts before they are truly worn out. Here are some of our cleaning tips:

1. Flush the sprayer out every time you use it.

You want to do this as soon as you can following use to help prevent the paint or other medium from hardening on the inside of the sprayer. You want to use a cleaner in the sprayer and spray gun as soon as you can to help remove any paint that might be lingering there.

Though some people say you can leave pain in a sprayer overnight, the longer that paint stays, the more likely you are to have issues. When cycling cleaner through a sprayer, it is best to do so on low pressure so that the cleaner can get all the parts clean. You want to cycle the cleaner through until it comes out with no paint or other residue.

2. Clean the tips.

You also want to make sure you are cleaning each tip after use. Though cleaning the entire system is important, the tips can get clogged and can get damaged very easily if you are not keeping them clean. The best time to clean tips is right after flushing when the paint or other medium that you were spraying is still wet. You want to make sure you are putting your tip guard back on your sprayer as well.
