Everything You Need To Know About Electric Paint Sprayers And How To Use Them

Electric paint sprayers are well-designed paint spraying devices that allow you to enhance the efficiency and speed of your work. Electric paint sprayers are widely being used in all the manufacturing as well as the industrial settings for their diverse use and high speed.

Graco electric paint sprayers, also known as airless paint sprayers, are pretty popular in the painting industry. Trained and professional painters say they are quite user-friendly; however, you require special training to use them efficiently. Here is a detailed guide on how to use electric paint spray guns and everything you need to know about them!

How to Use Airless Paint Sprayers?

The only good thing that we miss about the traditional paint brushes and rollers is that you don’t have to get special training in order to use them. On the contrary, the only bad thing about electric paint sprayers is that you do require training and experience to get the job done professionally. Here are all the tips and tricks you can use while painting with the airless paint sprayers

Cover Surfaces

While we are well aware of the fact that the aimed surfaces should be prepared before painting on them, we overlook covering the surfaces that we don’t want to paint. Removing the paint from those surfaces becomes a lot more complicated, so it’s better to cover them in advance to save them from the paint. Therefore, covering the unwanted surfaces should also be a part of the preparation.

Assemble All the Equipment

Sprayer guns are not just about the airheads, nozzles, and air caps; there is other equipment in the electric paint sprayer gun that requires your attention too.

Sprayer

Before getting your hands on the trigger to start painting, make sure that your extension is long enough and you can easily reach all the points of the aimed surface. Next, check that the hose is attached to the paint bucket correctly as we as the waste hose that takes the waste paint is also attached to the bucket to avoid mess. After checking the equipment, check the tip of the gun for one last time to make sure you are using the right one.

Clean Water Bucket

The paint dries up pretty quickly; to avoid that, you need to rinse off the tip and nozzle as soon as you finish painting. Rather than running to fetch water after painting, make sure to put aside a bucket of clean water that is enough to rinse all the parts of your gun.

Waste Bucket

The sprayer gun releases the wasted paint via a hose during the painting process. To avoid creating a mess in the place, make sure to take a waste bucket and put the waste hose in that bucket to keep it clean!

Quantity of Paint

If you are not sure if you are using the right consistency of the paint, it is best to start with a small quantity of paint to test the consistency of the paint. Once you are sure that your paint is in the right viscosity and does not need a solvent, you can fill up your paint bucket. For the paint sprayers that use thick paint, you can attach the gun directly to the paint gallon, and you’re good to go!

Start Spraying

Once you have done all the surface preparations and double-checked all of your equipment, it’s time we start spraying. One important thing before you start spraying; make sure to put on your safety goggles, respiratory mask, or any other safety gear you are using; put that on!

Fill your spray gun with the paint, and in thirty seconds, you are all set to start spraying!

Spraying Tips

Distance

Make sure to hold the paint spray gun 12 to 24inches away from your aimed surface. The distance plays an important role in depicting the finishes of your paint. If you keep the gun far away from the surface, the paint will be dispersed in the air, and a lot of paint will be wasted, and you will get a fuzzy finish. On the other hand, if you keep the gun too close to the surface, your paint will start dripping and rolling down the surface rather than staying on the surface.

Move the Gun Back and Forth

Speed is also a crucial factor that decides the finishing of your paint. Moving your gun too fast or too slow will result in drooling of the paint and uneven layering of paint on the surface. Move your spray gun back and forth to cover all the areas on the surface. A great way of covering large surfaces is to divide the surface into sections and then to cover the sections one by one smoothly, resulting in an even coating of the paint on all the surfaces giving you a glass-like finish.
